Verdict
The clearest difference is ads: Al Mayadeen at none against Alhadath | الحدث's shown. Al Mayadeen also leads on update cadence (every 5 weeks vs every 3 months) and review sentiment (39% vs 25%). Alhadath | الحدث's advantage is rating (4.5 vs 4.1) and ratings volume (722 vs 138). On price, in-app purchases and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
Alhadath | الحدث holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 4.1. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Alhadath | الحدث has 722 ratings behind it against 138, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 39% of Al Mayadeen's written reviews are positive against 25% of Alhadath | الحدث's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Al Mayadeen ships an update every 5 weeks, Alhadath | الحدث every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on October 22, 2026 and October 29, 2026 respectively.
