Each times table will be presented individually. For every multiplication the division will be calculated. The children will be guided to work independently. The times table shown makes it easy to control each task independently at any time. Children choose the row that they like to practise on. They can choose between 4 training variations: forwards, backwards, crosswise or divided. They succeed when all 4 variations are done without any mistake. There will be a summary for the child to check which tables it manages well and others it does not do so well as yet. In the third section the aim is to train the already learned. The child will choose the numbers to calculate with and will also set a time to finish it. 5 minutes, 10 minutes or endless.

Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is review sentiment: MathHero at 85% against Learning Math's 33%. MathHero also leads on price (Free vs $2.99) and update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 30 months). Learning Math's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 9) and rating (5.0 vs 4.6). On ads and device support there is nothing between them.

ReceptionRating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings

Learning Math holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: MathHero has 12K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 33% of Learning Math's written reviews are positive against 85% of MathHero's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

Learning Math ships an update every 30 months, MathHero every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on September 8, 2026 and September 24, 2026 respectively.
