Verdict
The clearest difference is update cadence: VeVe Comics Reader at monthly against ColourComics's every 9 months. VeVe Comics Reader also leads on ratings volume (55 vs 1) and rating (4.3 vs 4.0). ColourComics's advantage is monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases) and review sentiment (80% vs 68%). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
VeVe Comics Reader holds the better App Store score, 4.3 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: VeVe Comics Reader has 55 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 80% of ColourComics's written reviews are positive against 68% of VeVe Comics Reader's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
ColourComics ships an update every 9 months, VeVe Comics Reader monthly. The most recent releases landed on September 26, 2026 and October 9, 2026 respectively.
