Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: Buses Magazine at 5.0 against RCM&E's 4.6. Buses Magazine also leads on review sentiment (75% vs 56%). RCM&E's advantage is ratings volume (14 vs 1). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. RCM&E sells 11 in-app purchases, starting at $12.99 per 3 months and Buses Magazine sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
Buses Magazine holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: RCM&E has 14 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 56% of RCM&E's written reviews are positive against 75% of Buses Magazine's.
RCM&E ships an update every 8 months, Buses Magazine every 10 months. The most recent releases landed on October 19, 2026 and October 21, 2026 respectively.
