I once bought a second-hand film camera, but the built-in light meter was broken. Then I started to build this lightweight light meter for all film photographers. A simple UI with a very hard-core, statistic-based, lux calculation inside. The only light meter you will need on the go. After a dozen months of absence, I am back and redesigned the whole UI from scratch, bringing back great skeuomorphism time. Don't miss out on this amazing opportunity to enhance your film photography journey with LightMeter35 2.0! Download the app now and join our growing community of analog lovers. Experience the magic of capturing moments on film with the most reliable and intuitive light meter app on the market.

Verdict
The clearest difference is update cadence: myLightMeter PRO at every 5 days against LightMeter35's every 6 weeks. myLightMeter PRO also leads on ratings volume (1.1K vs 6) and chart position (#12 vs unranked). LightMeter35's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 4.8) and price ($3.99 vs $4.99). On review sentiment, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.
Scored on Price · Rating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings · Update frequency · Ads · In-app purchases · Monetization · Best chart rank · Devices · Requires iOS
myLightMeter PRO costs $4.99 and LightMeter35 $3.99 up front. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
LightMeter35 holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: myLightMeter PRO has 1.1K ratings behind it against 6, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 90% of myLightMeter PRO's written reviews are positive against 89% of LightMeter35's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
myLightMeter PRO ships an update every 5 days, LightMeter35 every 6 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 12, 2026 and October 9, 2026 respectively.
