Verdict
The clearest difference is update cadence: TrainerCentral at weekly against Carnatic Raga's every 44 months. TrainerCentral also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.8). Carnatic Raga's advantage is review sentiment (87% vs 60%) and ratings volume (484 vs 2). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
TrainerCentral holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Carnatic Raga has 484 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 87% of Carnatic Raga's written reviews are positive against 60% of TrainerCentral's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Carnatic Raga ships an update every 44 months, TrainerCentral weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 15, 2026 and October 6, 2026 respectively.
