Verdict
The clearest difference is update cadence: You Doodle Plus at every 9 days against Character Maker's every 5 weeks. On price, rating, review sentiment and ratings volume there is nothing between them.
Scored on Price · Rating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings · Update frequency · Ads · In-app purchases · Monetization · Best chart rank · Devices · Requires iOS
Both are free to download. You Doodle Plus sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Character Maker sells 13 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
You Doodle Plus holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.5. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 3.5K and 7.5K respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 84% of You Doodle Plus's written reviews are positive against 89% of Character Maker's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
You Doodle Plus ships an update every 9 days, Character Maker every 5 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 29, 2026 and October 28, 2026 respectively.
