Loopdrill is the ultimate music practice companion for musicians, students, and anyone learning songs by ear. Import your favorite tracks, slow them down, adjust the pitch, and loop difficult passages until you nail them. Speed Control -- Keep the Pitch Adjust playback speed from 25% to 200% while keeping the original pitch intact. Slow down blazing solos note by note, or speed up a ballad to challenge yourself. The pitch stays locked so every note sounds exactly as it should. Pitch Adjustment for Imported Files Shift the pitch up or down in semitone steps, from -12 to +12. Transpose a song to match your instrument's tuning, practice in a different key, or match a capo position -- all without re-recording anything. Section Looping Drag loop handles directly on the waveform to mark the section you want to repeat. Whether it's a tricky chord progression, a fast riff, or a subtle vocal run, loop it as many times as you need until it clicks. Lyrics Practice Pro · Optional one-time purchase Import LRC files or paste lyrics you have permission to use. Follow timed lines, select consecutive lines to loop, and edit timestamps or the sync offset. Lyrics without timestamps remain readable text until you add timing. Try the original sample before buying and restore purchases with the same Apple account. Pro unlocks practice tools; it does not include a lyrics catalog or AI transcription. Lyric availability and accuracy vary by song. Playback, speed controls, time A–B loops, waveform and bookmarks remain free. Pitch and EQ for imported files are also free. Lyrics Practice Pro is a separate, optional non-consumable in-app purchase with no subscription. The price for your region is shown before purchase. Bookmarks Drop bookmarks on key moments in a track -- verse, chorus, bridge, solo. Jump between sections instantly so your practice sessions stay focused and efficient. 10-Band Equalizer for Imported Files Shape the sound with a full 10-band EQ. Choose from presets like Flat, Bass Boost, Vocal, and Treble Boost to emphasize frequency ranges, highlight bass lines, or bring vocals to the front. Waveform Visualization See the entire song laid out as a waveform. Tap anywhere to jump to that point, and always know exactly where you are in the track. Flexible Audio Sources - Import audio files from the Files app - Access your Apple Music library Pitch adjustment and EQ are available for imported audio files. Apple Music playback does not support these two controls. Apple Music's in-app lyrics are not always available to Loopdrill; online lookup and lyric import provide additional options. Who Loopdrill is for: - Musicians learning songs by ear - Instrument students practicing difficult passages - Language learners using audio repetition - Transcribers capturing every detail - Anyone who wants to hear music at their own pace Stop rewinding. Start practicing. Loopdrill turns any song into a practice track.

Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is rating: Metronome at 4.7 against Loopdrill's 3.0. Metronome also leads on ratings volume (4K vs 2) and update cadence (every 2 months vs every 7 months). Loopdrill's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 3) and review sentiment (100% vs 84%). On price, ads, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Metronome sells 3 one-off in-app purchases. Loopdrill asks for nothing beyond the download.

ReceptionRating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings

Metronome holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 3.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Metronome has 4K ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 84% of Metronome's written reviews are positive against 100% of Loopdrill's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

Metronome ships an update every 2 months, Loopdrill every 7 months. The most recent releases landed on October 18, 2026 and October 14, 2026 respectively.
