Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: MSHSAA TV at 3.7 against 101 ESPN's 3.1. MSHSAA TV also leads on iOS requirement (12.0 vs 15.0). 101 ESPN's advantage is review sentiment (43% vs 9%) and update cadence (every 6 weeks vs every 6 months). On price, ratings volume, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
MSHSAA TV holds the better App Store score, 3.7 against 3.1. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 46 and 92 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 43% of 101 ESPN's written reviews are positive against 9% of MSHSAA TV's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
101 ESPN ships an update every 6 weeks, MSHSAA TV every 6 months. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and November 3, 2026 respectively.
