Verdict
The clearest difference is price: Fermentis at Free against iBrewer's $14.99. Fermentis also leads on rating (2.2 vs 1.0) and in-app purchases (none vs 10). iBrewer's advantage is review sentiment (50% vs 17%). On ads, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Fermentis is free to download; iBrewer costs $14.99 up front. iBrewer sells 10 one-off in-app purchases. Fermentis asks for nothing beyond the download.
Fermentis holds the better App Store score, 2.2 against 1.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Fermentis has 14 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 50% of iBrewer's written reviews are positive against 17% of Fermentis's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
iBrewer ships an update every 5 months, Fermentis every 6 weeks. The most recent releases landed on September 17, 2026 and June 23, 2026 respectively.
