Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Diveplanner Tec & Rec at 43% against Asian Diver's 0%. Diveplanner Tec & Rec also leads on monetization model (freemium vs subscription) and update cadence (every 2 months vs every 8 months). Asian Diver's advantage is rating (4.0 vs 3.1) and iOS requirement (11.0 vs 17.0). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

ReceptionRating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings

Asian Diver holds the better App Store score, 4.0 against 3.1. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Diveplanner Tec & Rec has 7 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 0% of Asian Diver's written reviews are positive against 43% of Diveplanner Tec & Rec's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

Asian Diver ships an update every 8 months, Diveplanner Tec & Rec every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 23, 2026 and October 30, 2026 respectively.
