Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
Spec Check holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.5. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 1 and 2 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 0% of Spec Check's written reviews are positive against 67% of Messick's's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Spec Check ships an update every 2 months, Messick's every 3 weeks. Both last shipped on September 29, 2026.
