Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is rating: ShiftWork at 4.8 against Sked's 3.7. ShiftWork also leads on monetization model (free with in-app purchases vs subscription). Sked's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and iOS requirement (12.0 vs 14.0). On price, review sentiment, ratings volume and update cadence there is nothing between them.

CostPrice · In-app purchases · Ads · Monetization

Both are free to download. ShiftWork sells 2 one-off in-app purchases and Sked sells 7 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

ReceptionRating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings

ShiftWork holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 3.7. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 56 and 164 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 48% of ShiftWork's written reviews are positive against 50% of Sked's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

ShiftWork ships an update every 3 months, Sked every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 1, 2026 and October 3, 2026 respectively.
