Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: Zones at 4.7 against World Clock's 3.9. Zones also leads on ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (every 10 days vs every 6 weeks). World Clock's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 2). On price, review sentiment and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Zones sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. World Clock asks for nothing beyond the download.
Zones holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 3.9. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Zones has 79 ratings behind it against 14, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 77% of World Clock's written reviews are positive against 70% of Zones's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
World Clock ships an update every 6 weeks, Zones every 10 days. The most recent releases landed on November 6, 2026 and November 3, 2026 respectively.
