Ghost Gauge is the companion app for the Ghost Gauge dash cluster, a custom gauge built for the Can-Am Maverick X3. The app needs that hardware to show real readings - but Demo mode runs the whole app against a simulated gauge, so you can see everything it does before you have one. READINGS, LIVE Belt and coolant temperature, intake air, boost, oil pressure, battery voltage, engine speed and road speed, straight off the gauge over Bluetooth. Pick Celsius or Fahrenheit, psi or bar, mph or km/h - the app converts, the gauge keeps its own numbers. ALARMS THAT REACH YOU The gauge's own caution and critical limits become notifications, and critical ones are Time Sensitive, so they arrive while your iPhone is on Do Not Disturb. The belt temperature sits on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island for the whole ride, so you don't have to take the phone out to look. RIDE LOGGING With the app open, every second of a ride is written to your device: readings, and where you were. Afterwards each ride shows the belt and coolant curve, how long each reading spent past caution and past critical, the peaks, and a map of the track coloured by belt temperature with a marker on the hottest second. The last fifty rides are kept; you can delete any of them. EVERY SETTING ON THE PANEL Alert limits typed in your own units, which screens the gauge shows and in what order, the screen it starts on, the typeface, the startup animation, dark or light colours, backlight. Change it on the phone and the panel follows. FIRMWARE IN ONE TAP New firmware for the gauge is downloaded in the background while you have signal, then installed out where you don't. The app hands the gauge over to its own WiFi, sends the file, and waits for it to come back on Bluetooth. Every release is signed, and the gauge checks the signature before it will boot one. MADE FOR IPAD On an iPad the app opens out into a full dash: a rev counter across the top, a large belt ring with coolant, oil, boost, intake air, volts and speed around it, and the last three minutes charted beside the peaks. NOTHING LEAVES YOUR DEVICE No account, no server, no analytics. The app talks to your gauge and to nothing else. Ride logs, including position, stay on your iPhone or iPad. Requires iOS or iPadOS 26 or later.

Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is rating: Racemap at 4.0 against Ghost Gauge's 1.0. Racemap also leads on ratings volume (6 vs 1) and iOS requirement (15.1 vs 26.0). Ghost Gauge's advantage is update cadence (daily vs every 6 weeks) and monetization model (free vs ad-supported). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.
