Pain Buddy is a smartphone app designed by researchers at the University of California, Irvine to assist children and teens with cancer related pain and symptoms. Users will interact their Pain Buddy to document pain, symptoms, and things they do to manage their symptoms. Findings will help doctors, nurses, and parents get the information they need to give children treatments for pain and symptom management that work. Users can switch between 3 Pain Buddy avatars: Croco, Pug, and Koala. In addition to documenting pain and symptoms, users can earn virtual coins for each diary completion. Coins can be used within the app to unlock and play games and purchase clothes and accessories from the in-app store. Participants will be randomly placed into the Control Group or the Pain Buddy group. Both groups will have access to the Pain Buddy app, which includes daily diaries, games, and avatar care, such as grooming and accessorizing. The Pain Buddy group includes 2 additional features that are not included in the control group: Remote monitoring by a healthcare provider, and cognitive behavioral skills (CBT) training. Pain Buddy was specially designed with a system created by oncology nurses and doctors to let us know if the symptoms reported in the diaries would be something the healthcare team thinks might benefit from clinical guidance. Pain Buddy is not meant to give medical advice or designed to replace a nurse or doctor. For medical emergencies, please dial 911.

Eclose brings GLP-1 injections, weight, photos and daily reflections together, so you can look back on what you recorded. INJECTIONS AND REMINDERS Log the actual date, time, medication, dose, interval, site and notes. Browse your history or calendar and set reminders around your own plan. Medication names and doses stay hidden in notifications by default. WEIGHT AND MAINTENANCE Record weight and waist measurements and explore changes over time. During maintenance, choose your own dates and observation range and keep your daily records together. PHOTOS AND JOURNEY CARDS Save photos by date and compare any two with a slider, side by side or as an overlay. Arrange four moments into a grid or timeline journey card, reorder photos and adjust their framing. Choose whether to include dates, weight and reflections. DAILY REFLECTIONS Pick a mood and add physical feelings, your own tags or a few words. Add entries for past dates, then search, edit and revisit them. ORGANIZE AND BACK UP Review records by date, create reports or export CSV files. Encrypted backups include original photos and records for safekeeping and moving devices. Optional iCloud record sync excludes photos. MAKE IT YOUR OWN Choose English, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Japanese or Korean. Set language and units separately; changing language preserves your units and existing records. Widgets and Apple Watch keep everyday information close at hand. Journey card export and saved layouts, full reports and Apple Watch features require in-app purchase. Eclose is a record-keeping tool. It does not diagnose, treat or recommend doses or injection sites. Follow your prescription and clinician’s guidance for medical decisions.
