jor1k vs The Ile Ubuntu

jor1k was one of the first Linux terminals designed to work on a web browser. Here you have the opportunity to use your iPhone or iPad to practice some basic commands to learn computer programming languages and test another flavor of Linux.

The Ile Ubuntu is not another LMS. It’s a schoolhouse for the digital age — a living learning commons where knowledge isn’t consumed, it’s cultivated, protected, and passed on. Built on the Ubuntu philosophy — “I am because we are” — The Ile Ubuntu weaves courses, cohorts, community, and archives into one coherent environment for learning that honors tradition and embraces the future. STRUCTURED COURSES Rich multimedia lessons with progress tracking, file attachments, and completion certificates. Learn at your own pace with content designed for depth, not just delivery. LIVE TEACHING Embedded video sessions with branded backgrounds. Schedule, host, and join live classes from anywhere. Bring the classroom experience to every screen. COHORT LEARNING Group learners into cohorts with visual leaderboards and collective progress tracking. Learn together, grow together. KNOWLEDGE SPACES Protected vaults with tiered access. Some wisdom deserves a gatekeeper. Access curated knowledge as you advance through governance roles. COMMUNITY FORUMS Categorized discussions that keep conversations alive across the learning commons. Ask questions, share insights, build connections. LIVING ARCHIVES Curated collections preserving community knowledge for generations to come. A digital repository of wisdom that grows with the community. 5 GOVERNANCE ROLES Student, Assistant, Faculty, Elder, Admin — each with distinct access and purpose. Your role evolves as you grow. A student can become an assistant, an assistant can become faculty, and faculty can become an elder. INTERGENERATIONAL BY DESIGN Wisdom flows in all directions. Elders preserve, faculty shape, students carry forward. This is learning the way it was always meant to be. MULTILINGUAL Full interface in English, Spanish, and Yoruba. Your language, your learning. CERTIFICATES Branded PDF certificates auto-generated when you complete a course. Recognize your growth and share your achievements. ANALYTICS DASHBOARD Enrollment trends, course performance, cohort comparisons — all at your fingertips and exportable. MEMBERSHIP PLANS The Ile Ubuntu is free to explore.
