Horizontal Accelerometer vs Reaction Time Test
Price, ratings, monetisation and update history for both apps, side by side — with what reviewers say about each.
Horizontal Accelerometer
This tool measures real-time horizontal acceleration, deceleration, and lateral G-force for automobiles. It features color-coded zones and sounds for easy understanding while driving and can also be used for engineering education and evaluating structural rigidity.
- Real-time horizontal acceleration measurement
- Measures deceleration and lateral G-force
- Color zones and sound alerts for values
- Calibration for accurate readings
- Peak hold and max value tracking
- Adjustable color zone thresholds and sound

"Horizontal Accelerometer" is a tool that displays horizontal acceleration in real time. (Application) - Measures acceleration, deceleration, and lateral G of automobiles. The acceleration value in the direction felt by the driver is displayed. Color zones and sounds make acceleration values easy to understand even while driving. - Rigidity evaluation of table legs - The horizontal accelerometer allows engineering students to actually measure and feel the acceleration value, which is useful for understanding the equation of motion. (How to use) 1. Fix the iPhone on the object to be measured. No need to fix it horizontally. When measuring the acceleration of a car, fix the iPhone on the dashboard at an angle that makes it easy to see the screen and so as not to shake. When evaluating the rigidity of the table legs, place the iPhone on the table surface, and if the iPhone slips when the table is shaken, fix it with tape. 2. Tap the "Calibration" button, then tap the "Calibrate" button. The display of the horizontal acceleration value starts. In the case of a car, please stop the car on a horizontal road and then calibrate. (Screen display) - The number at the top of the screen is the value of real-time horizontal acceleration. - "Peak hold" is the peak value of horizontal acceleration. Reset after the set time. - ”Max" is the maximum value of horizontal acceleration. Reset with the “Reset Max" button. - Acceleration values can change to red and yellow depending on the threshold. (Calibration dialog) Tap the "Calibration" button to bring up the calibration dialog. - "Calibrate": Executes calibration in the current fixed state. - ”Recall Calibration": Recall the saved calibration. - "Save Calibration": Save the current calibration. - "List of useful apps": Displays a list of useful apps. (Setting dialog) Tap the "Setting" button to bring up the setting dialog. - "List of useful apps": Displays a list of useful apps. - “Setting": A setting window appears. (Setting window) - "Color zone(value(G) or more)": Color zone thresholds, color on/off, and sound on/off can be set. The default thresholds are Red 0.40 and Yellow 0.30. - "Peak hold time(s)": Peak hold time can be set. Default is 10. - "Harshness cut filter": Harshness cut filter on/off can be set. "Harshness" means impact vibration. - "Desensitization(%)": Desensitization rate can be set. Default is 0. (Remarks) - This app works on iPhone and iPad. - Tilting the device tilts the calibrated horizontal plane, so measurement error occurs. - The developer assumes no responsibility for any loss or claims by third parties which may arise from the use of this app.
Reaction Time Test

How fast are you, actually? Reaction Time measures the gap between seeing something change and moving your finger — and it measures it correctly. Most reaction apps stop the clock when your finger lifts off the glass. That adds your own release time to every single result, which is why their numbers run slow. This one stops the moment your finger lands. FOUR WAYS TO MEASURE • Simple — the screen turns green, you tap. Raw reaction, nothing else. • Choice — one of four panels lights up. Tap that one. • Go / No-Go — green means tap, red means hold still. Speed plus restraint. • Timing — a bar sweeps toward a line. Tap exactly when it arrives. STATISTICS, NOT JUST A HIGH SCORE Five valid attempts per session. You get the median (the number worth trusting), your best, your mean, and your spread — how consistent you were. Attempts under 100 ms are marked as false starts and attempts over 3 seconds as misses. Both are shown to you and both are left out of the maths, with the reason on screen. WHAT IT DOES NOT DO • No account. Nothing to sign up for. • No paywall and no subscription. Every test is free. • No data collected. Your sessions never leave this iPhone. • Works completely offline, including in airplane mode. Tiers are our own scale, not a population percentile. This app is for measurement and entertainment, not medical or cognitive assessment.

Verdict
The clearest difference is ads: Reaction Time Test at none against Horizontal Accelerometer's shown. Reaction Time Test also leads on update cadence (every 8 days vs every 6 weeks). Horizontal Accelerometer's advantage is iOS requirement (13.0 vs 17.0). On price, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.
