Trees Miercurea Ciuc vs HeightCzech

TREES is an online platform in the form of an interactive application. It is based on the map of Miercurea-Ciuc Municipality, where you can identify trees in public green spaces and access information about these trees. The application has a messaging function, through which users can send messages, requests for information related to a particular tree to the local municipality, which responds to these messages publicly and in turn sends messages to interested locals about planned interventions in green spaces, involving society and taking into account their observations. Thus, this platform becomes a simple and effective WatchDog tool, the reported problems and their resolution being public, anyone can check how and how quickly a problem was resolved.

HeightCzech is a simple mobile tool for measuring tree height using your smartphone. The application uses the phone camera together with internal motion sensors (gyroscope and accelerometer) to estimate the height of a tree from a known distance. The measurement can be performed directly in the field without the need for additional forestry instruments. The app is designed for foresters, students, researchers and anyone interested in practical forest measurements. Main features: • Measure tree height using the smartphone camera • Simple aiming at the base and top of the tree • Height calculation using phone sensors • Clear and fast interface suitable for field work • Works offline without internet connection HeightCzech demonstrates how modern smartphones can support traditional forestry measurements in a simple and accessible way.
