Verdict
The clearest difference is review sentiment: BSK TV at 100% against SABC+'s 8%. BSK TV also leads on rating (5.0 vs 1.9) and update cadence (fortnightly vs every 2 months). SABC+'s advantage is ratings volume (14 vs 1). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
BSK TV holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 1.9. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: SABC+ has 14 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 8% of SABC+'s written reviews are positive against 100% of BSK TV's.
SABC+ ships an update every 2 months, BSK TV fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 18, 2026 and September 8, 2026 respectively.
