Mello is built for one condition: gastroparesis, where the stomach empties too slowly. Everything in it comes from what that does to a day. Three promises, and nothing else. EAT ENOUGH Most people with gastroparesis get far less than they need, and undernutrition is how this illness does real harm. So Mello plans the day rather than recording it. • Today shows what the day still needs: energy, protein and fluid. No upper limit, no red numbers, and no "too much" state anywhere in this app. • It front-loads the morning and softens the evening, because emptying is measurably better early and worse late. • "What can I eat now?" answers with three things that fit the hole in this meal — for the texture you are eating at the moment, at this hour, using foods your own log has proven. • A Kitchen of 120 gastroparesis recipes with their energy, protein, fat and minutes, filtered by texture and by what you need left out: dairy, gluten, added sugar, meat. • Type any dish — a takeaway, what the family is having — and Mello names the changes that make it easier. STAY SAFE • Red flags read from your own log: fluids not staying down, weight falling, dehydration building. • Write your flare plan on a good day — what you drink, what you take, when you go in, who you call — and Mello reads it back on a bad one, in your words, unchanged. • ER Mode: a one-page summary for the nurse at the emergency desk. What you kept down, what you took, what worked last time. • It counts the weeks on medications that have a limit, and raises the question before your appointment. • Notes to send to family, a restaurant or work, so the explaining does not fall due on your worst day. BE BELIEVED • A monthly Tolerance Report for your GI doctor: symptom trend, which foods sit well and when, how well you are nourished, weight, medication timing, and the questions worth asking. • Your own food list, grown only from your log — and a food can be won back. • If your gastroparesis is diabetic: Meals and blood sugar shows the pattern no general diabetes app looks for — sugar dipping early and rising hours later, because the meal had not arrived yet. LOG IN SECONDS • Meals by texture, fat, fibre and portion — what matters for a slow stomach. No calorie counting, and no FODMAP logic; that is the wrong model here. • One-tap repeats, or say a whole line: "half a bowl of oatmeal, nausea 3". • Record the meals you COULD NOT eat, and why. A meal you were too nauseated to face is data; a gap in the log is not. • On a flare day the screen collapses to a 3-tap flare log and four large buttons. • Your week sits on Today: tap any day to see what you ate and how it went. PRIVATE BY DESIGN • Your logs stay on your device and sync through your own private iCloud. Meal photos never leave your phone. • Only an anonymised summary is sent, and only when you choose to generate a report. FREE, AND PAID • Free and staying free: logging, your food list, the whole Kitchen, "what can I eat now?", the eating-enough check, every safety feature, the flare plan, and a full monthly report for your doctor. • Mello Pro adds a daily outlook from your own patterns, Menu Scan for any menu, per-food deep dives, medication trials, your full history beyond 30 days, and PDF export. • Pay once ($14.99) or subscribe ($5.99/month with a 7-day free trial, or $39.99/year). Mello is a wellness and self-tracking tool. It does not diagnose, treat, or provide medical advice, and its recipes are general suggestions rather than a personal diet plan. Always consult your clinician about your symptoms and treatment. Verdict
The clearest difference is update cadence: Mello at every 10 days against Timeception's every 7 months. Timeception's advantage is device support (3 vs 1) and iOS requirement (14.0 vs 17.0). On price, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.
