Vicissitude
Read full descriptionHide full description
Vicissitude is a modern message-in-a-bottle experience built around chance, distance, and discovery. Write a message, seal your bottle, choose where its journey begins, and send it into the world. From there, your bottle travels using real ocean-current data and may encounter hazards, coastlines, storms, and changing conditions along the way. Follow your bottle’s journey as it moves across the ocean and see how far it travels. A bottle may continue drifting, wash ashore, be found by another user, be opened, be thrown back unopened to continue its journey, be lost at sea, destroyed, or buried on the beach. If someone opens your bottle, they can read your message and send one reply back to you. Once a bottle is opened, its journey is complete. Vicissitude is designed to feel unpredictable and personal. There are no followers, feeds, likes, rankings, streaks, or guaranteed outcomes. Each bottle has its own path, its own timing, and its own story. Features include: • Real ocean-current influence • Ocean hazards and changing conditions • Worldwide launch areas • Bottle journey tracking • Miles traveled and journey history • Beach-walk bottle discovery • One reply from the finder • Permanent bottle history • Possible loss, destruction, or burial • One bottle purchase per calendar month Send a message into the unknown and see where fate takes it.

Verdict
The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Hemmings at none against Vicissitude's 1. Hemmings also leads on iOS requirement (15.5 vs 17.6). Vicissitude's advantage is update cadence (every 4 days vs every 10 days). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.
