The Mobile Application will be updated and enhanced on an ongoing basis to meet the needs of the community. Internet connection is required for use of the HKFSD Mobile Application.

Drifting Continents is a visual atlas for exploring global earthquakes and tectonic plates. See where recent earthquakes are happening, compare them with plate boundaries, and understand why seismic activity often follows the edges of Earth’s moving plates. The app is designed for curious learners, geography enthusiasts, students, and anyone who wants a clearer view of our dynamic planet. Features: Explore recent global earthquakes on a custom earth view View magnitude, location, depth, and event time Switch between globe and flat map views Filter earthquakes by time range and magnitude Show tectonic plate boundaries and seismic activity belts Review recent activity with a simple earthquake dashboard View hypocenter depth categories for selected events Switch between English, Simplified Chinese, or system language No account, no ads, and no location permission required Drifting Continents focuses on visual exploration, not alarm or prediction. It helps you observe patterns, compare recent events, and build an intuitive understanding of plate tectonics. Data is based on public earthquake sources, including USGS and supplemental public earthquake information for China-region events. Updates may depend on network conditions, public data availability, and server processing. Important: Drifting Continents is not an earthquake prediction, warning, alert, emergency response, or safety decision tool. Earthquake and plate information is provided for general reference and educational exploration only. For official earthquake information, alerts, and emergency guidance, always refer to official earthquake monitoring agencies and local authorities.
