Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: Flat Machine at 4.9 against SHAPE×HUNTER's 4.3. Flat Machine also leads on update cadence (every 5 days vs every 3 weeks) and ratings volume (68 vs 6). SHAPE×HUNTER's advantage is iOS requirement (12.0 vs 15.0). On price, review sentiment, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. SHAPE×HUNTER sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Flat Machine sells 4 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
Flat Machine holds the better App Store score, 4.9 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Flat Machine has 68 ratings behind it against 6, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 100% of SHAPE×HUNTER's written reviews are positive against 94% of Flat Machine's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
SHAPE×HUNTER ships an update every 3 weeks, Flat Machine every 5 days. The most recent releases landed on September 9, 2026 and September 28, 2026 respectively.
