Phylomena
Read full descriptionHide full description
Phylomena is a fast, local-first multiple sequence alignment viewer and editor for iPhone and iPad. Open biological sequence files directly from Files, inspect DNA, RNA, and protein alignments, navigate large datasets smoothly, search sequences and motifs, and make manual corrections on your device. Supported formats: FASTA, PHYLIP, NEXUS, CLUSTAL, Stockholm, and GenBank. Phylomena detects the format from the file contents, so you do not need to choose a parser or convert files first. Features include residue coloring, sequence and site coordinates, pinch zoom, sequence search, motif search, editing, undo/redo, and export to FASTA, PHYLIP, NEXUS, CLUSTAL, or Stockholm. Phylomena works offline, requires no account, and does not upload your biological sequence data to Phylomena servers.

Verdict
The clearest difference is price: Phylomena at Free against iFTx's $1.99. Phylomena also leads on update cadence (every 10 days vs every 6 months). iFTx's advantage is chart position (#103 vs unranked) and iOS requirement (15.0 vs 18.0). On ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.
