Full Markdown toolbar, folders, tags, favorites, mood marks and a writing calendar. 6. Export an encrypted backup and restore it on a new iPhone. Download free — your first entry is free to write; a one-time purchase then unlocks unlimited writing, forever. iPhone, iPad, 15 languages.

Verdict
The clearest difference is update cadence: OffMemory at every 4 days against Second Brain's every 4 weeks. OffMemory also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.8) and device support (3 vs 1). Second Brain's advantage is ratings volume (61 vs 1). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Second Brain sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per 7 days and OffMemory sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
OffMemory holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Second Brain has 61 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.
Second Brain ships an update every 4 weeks, OffMemory every 4 days. The most recent releases landed on October 11, 2026 and October 6, 2026 respectively.
