Falling Notes Piano Trainer vs Strikey

Learn, practice, transcribe, and edit piano music in one place. FallingNotes lets you load MIDI files, practice them with a MIDI-compatible keyboard, and shape the music directly in a visual falling-notes editor. Watch notes fall toward the keyboard, pause until you play the right notes, follow staff notation for sight-reading, and edit performances with precise musical control. Version 3.0 is a major expansion. FallingNotes is now not only a practice app, but also a piano performance editor. You can edit notes, tempo, velocity, pedal, tracks, and timing; transcribe piano audio to MIDI; transfer expression from one performance to another; and export standard MIDI files for use in other tools or supported player-piano workflows. Features: • Load standard MIDI files or choose from included songs • Connect a MIDI-compatible keyboard for interactive practice • Practice left hand, right hand, selected tracks, or the full song • Pause on notes and continue only when you play • View active notes on the staff for sight-reading support • Edit individual notes or groups of notes visually • Change pitch, timing, length, velocity, and track assignment • Add or remove time in the score • Edit tempo changes with a visual speed profile • Transcribe piano audio into editable MIDI • Transfer timing, velocity, and pedal expression from another performance • Compare transferred expression with ghost-note overlays • Smooth tempo profiles while preserving overall timing • Capture synchronized MIDI and audio takes for paired practice or dataset creation • Choose from multiple animated falling-note visual styles • Export MIDI files with standard tempo events for compatibility with other MIDI software • Export MIDI files in Steinway Spirio-compatible format for supported player pianos FallingNotes is designed for pianists, learners, arrangers, and anyone who wants to understand and reshape piano performances visually.
