SundialEV
This app intelligently directs surplus solar energy to charge your electric vehicle instead of sending it back to the grid. It helps users save money by avoiding high electricity buy-back rates and utilizing cheaper off-peak charging times. The system is designed for a set-and-forget experience, integrating with existing EV and solar hardware.
- Charges EV with surplus solar
- Avoids grid export for low rates
- Set charging floor and battery reserve
- Works with all Tesla models
- Coordinates with Powerwall
- Utilizes off-peak charging

Your rooftop solar is worth far more in your car than sold back to the grid. SundialEV automatically charges your EV from surplus solar instead of exporting it for pennies — set it once and forget it. Under "Net billing" electric plans (like NEM 3.0), utilities pay you a few cents for the solar you export, then charge you full price for the same energy at night. Sundial closes that gap: when your panels make more than your home needs, it sends the surplus to your car instead of the grid, saving most users on their electricity bills. • Set-and-forget — pick a charging floor and a battery reserve once; Sundial does the rest • Works with every Tesla model — and with any EV brand via an OCPP smart wall charger, like the Wallbox Pulsar Plus • Reads your production from Tesla, SolarEdge, Enphase solar systems (+ more now) • Coordinates with your Powerwall — you choose how full it gets before the car charges • Tops up on cheap off-peak power on your schedule, and avoids peak-rate windows when solar isn't available • Need range right now? One tap starts a full-speed charge — solar takes back over when it's done • No new hardware — works with the solar, battery, car, and charger you already own

Verdict
The clearest difference is ads: SundialEV at none against Coverage Map's shown. SundialEV also leads on review sentiment (100% vs 68%) and monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). Coverage Map's advantage is ratings volume (798 vs 11) and device support (3 vs 1). On price, in-app purchases and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.
