Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: Vanilla Dice at 5.0 against Dig Odyssey's 3.4. Vanilla Dice also leads on ads (none vs shown) and monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). Dig Odyssey's advantage is ratings volume (20 vs 2) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 17.0). On price, update cadence, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Dig Odyssey sells 3 one-off in-app purchases and Vanilla Dice sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
Vanilla Dice holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 3.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Dig Odyssey has 20 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two.
Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 30, 2026 and October 25, 2026 respectively.
