Verdict
The clearest difference is monetization model: Authenticator App at free with in-app purchases against Nive's subscription. Authenticator App also leads on update cadence (fortnightly vs monthly). Nive's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and ratings volume (2.2K vs 9). On price, in-app purchases, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.
Scored on Price · Rating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings · Update frequency · Ads · In-app purchases · Monetization · Best chart rank · Devices · Requires iOS
Both are free to download. Nive sells 7 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per 7 days and Authenticator App sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
Nive holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Nive has 2.2K ratings behind it against 9, so its average is the more settled of the two.
Nive ships an update monthly, Authenticator App fortnightly. Both last shipped on October 17, 2026.
