Verdict
The clearest difference is monetization model: BYLT Basics at ad-supported against OluKai's free with in-app purchases. BYLT Basics also leads on ratings volume (8.5K vs 1.1K). OluKai's advantage is iOS requirement (16.4 vs 18.0). On price, rating, review sentiment and update cadence there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.9 for BYLT Basics against 4.9 for OluKai. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: BYLT Basics has 8.5K ratings behind it against 1.1K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 75% of BYLT Basics's written reviews are positive against 76% of OluKai's.
Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 29, 2026 and October 27, 2026 respectively.
