Verdict
The clearest difference is monetization model: JoyLeaf Dispensary at free against Zen Leaf+'s free with in-app purchases. JoyLeaf Dispensary also leads on review sentiment (100% vs 77%). Zen Leaf+'s advantage is ratings volume (16K vs 271) and update cadence (monthly vs every 4 months). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.9 for Zen Leaf+ against 4.9 for JoyLeaf Dispensary. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Zen Leaf+ has 16K ratings behind it against 271, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 77% of Zen Leaf+'s written reviews are positive against 100% of JoyLeaf Dispensary's.
Zen Leaf+ ships an update monthly, JoyLeaf Dispensary every 4 months. The most recent releases landed on October 19, 2026 and October 16, 2026 respectively.
