Point your camera at anything and HelpfulHuey tells you what color you're looking at: the name, the exact hex code, and a plain-English description of the shade. No shutter button. No account. No waiting. BUILT WITH COLORBLINDNESS IN MIND If you have a color vision deficiency, HelpfulHuey is a second opinion you can carry in your pocket. It doesn't ask you to describe what you see or match a swatch by eye. You point, and it tells you. Every result is anchored to an everyday color word — red, blue, brown, gray — so you always get an answer you can say out loud, whether you're buying paint, getting dressed, or working out which wire is the green one. WHAT YOU GET Live identification. Line up the reticle and the answer is already there. Move the phone and it keeps up. A real name, not just a number. #A47D43 is technically true and practically useless. "Wood Thrush" is something you can remember, ask for, and match. The exact hex code, ready to paste into a design tool, a stylesheet, or a note for the paint counter. A plain-English description — "a moderate, warm mid-tone orange" — that tells you what a name alone can't. Match confidence, so when a color sits between two names, HelpfulHuey says so instead of guessing. History, so every color you've identified stays on your device, ready to look up again. Torch and brightness controls, for dim rooms and awkward angles. ALSO USEFUL IF YOU Design or build things. It's an eyedropper for the physical world — pull a palette off a shopfront, a book cover, a tile. Are matching something. Paint, fabric, thread, trim, a touch-up on a scuffed door. HelpfulHuey turns "that sort of beige" into a name and a number. Are simply curious what color the sky is today. It'll tell you that too. PRIVACY Everything happens on your device. HelpfulHuey doesn't collect your data, doesn't require an account, and never sends your camera anywhere. There's nothing to opt out of. ABOUT THE COLOR NAMES HelpfulHuey identifies colors using names from widely published color references, including those of major paint manufacturers, so that a result means something at a shop counter. HelpfulHuey is an independent app and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any paint manufacturer. All color names and trademarks remain the property of their respective owners. Screen color is affected by lighting and camera hardware. Always confirm against a physical sample before buying paint.
