Verdict
The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Moon Tea at none against MargBuddies's 1. Moon Tea also leads on ratings volume (60 vs 3) and iOS requirement (15.6 vs 17.0). MargBuddies's advantage is update cadence (fortnightly vs monthly). On price, rating, review sentiment and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. MargBuddies sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $2.99 per month. Moon Tea asks for nothing beyond the download.
On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.9 for Moon Tea against 5.0 for MargBuddies. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Moon Tea has 60 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews split almost evenly too, at 100% and 100% positive.
Moon Tea ships an update monthly, MargBuddies fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 19, 2026 and October 1, 2026 respectively.
