Inkstep is a mindful timer and manual step log. Choose how long to focus, the activity you want to record, and a total step goal. Plan your session • Choose 1–480 minutes; free sessions over 180 minutes use a pre-session rewarded ad • Select walking, running, cycling, hiking, yoga, or tai chi • Enter a target from 1 to 425,000 steps • Log steps every 5 to 30 seconds • Natural Variation, Even, or Scenario Rhythm preserve your total • Commute, shopping, stroll, and walk–run scenarios with editable pace, rests, locks, and duration advice • Easy, moderate, or vigorous intensity • Sound off by default; three free soundscapes, five more in Plus Manual steps, clearly labeled Inkstep allocates the total you selected across your actual active time; paused time adds no steps. These are manual step entries calculated from your chosen goal, not measurements from an iPhone, Apple Watch, or other sensor. Progressive saving, then a final review You confirm everything up front and choose whether to authorize Apple Health. Inkstep then saves manual steps for completed intervals as you go, plus estimated active energy when body weight is set. When you finish, choose a mood and confirm; Inkstep fills in the remaining intervals and completes: • A workout with its actual start and end times • Step samples marked as user-entered • A mindful session • Estimated active energy when an optional body weight is saved Active energy is estimated from the body weight stored on your device, activity, intensity, and actual duration — not a sensor reading or medical measurement. iOS does not guarantee background execution, so Inkstep catches up when it can run rather than measuring in real time. Quiet by default Soundscapes are off until you choose one. White Noise, Heavy Rain, and Forest Air are free; Plus adds Cosmic Hum, After the Rain, Cavern Air, Dark Void, and Rainy Town. Pixabay-licensed loops support Lock Screen playback and system volume. Inkstep never records audio. When ads appear Free users see fixed banners on Home, Completion, Statistics, and History. Rewarded ads may precede every third new session or resume, sessions over 180 minutes, Complete All & End Now, and selected-date deletion. All continue if an ad is unavailable; closing a shown ad early does not unlock the action. Single-record deletion has no ad. Plus makes no ad requests. The free version may ask to use the advertising identifier. Declining does not affect any feature — ads still load without it. Plus never asks. Review and manage • Browse past sessions and the last seven days of mindful minutes and steps • Sync or resync each record to Apple Health • Delete a record and the Apple Health entries it created • In-app guide to step-source order in Apple Health, which only you can change • Lock Screen, Dynamic Island, and Home Screen widgets Your data Session records, moods, and body weight stay on this device — no iCloud. Body weight only feeds active-energy estimates — never saved to Apple Health or shared with analytics or ads. On first launch you choose whether to share app usage — screen and feature usage, an install identifier, basic device info, and an approximate region; turn it off anytime in Settings. Steps, session content, Apple Health data, moods, and body weight are never sent. Core sessions, Apple Health writing, statistics, and records are free. Inkstep Plus is an auto-renewable monthly or annual subscription that removes every ad and unlocks five premium soundscapes and two widget backgrounds.
