ACT Math Flashcards vs ACT Prep & Test

[Introduction] • Welcome to the world's most comprehensive ACT Math flashcard app on the iPhone! • Access 437 flashcards: concepts, formulas, and techniques that students need to recall instantly and accurately to beat the clock on test day • Built by Ved Sampath, a Big Tech software engineer • Content by PrepAccelerator's PhD statistician (PrepAccelerator.com) [Free Cards] • See below. [The Challenge] • A majority of students do NOT know that they are expected to memorize formulas by test day. • ACT tests students on these formulas. For most questions, ACT does NOT provide formulas. Students who take the test with perfect knowledge of the tested formulas outscore students who do not have the formulas memorized. • For example, does your student know the difference between f(g(x)) and (fg)(x)? These are different. Both are in this card app. Both have been tested. [Our Philosophy] • Students should never lose points for forgetting a formula - avoid this! • Students need to memorize these formulas using spaced repetition. This app helps them do this effectively. [Pace] • The majority of students have trouble completing the ACT Math section since they either don't know the formulas or cannot retrieve them quickly. • This app helps students pick up the pace on test day since instant and accurate recall is critical. • The increased speed gives students increased confidence on the test. • This app helps students recognize terms and concepts quickly. [Content] • The cards form 3 tiers: Tier 1 (FREE download, 41 cards), Tier 2 (311 must-know cards, paid), Tier 3 (85 rarely tested cards, paid). • Each card has 4 parts: Concept, Explanation, Question, and Solution. • Yes, each card has a practice question, which reinforces the concept. The practice question appears immediately after the concept so that students are tested on the concept while it is fresh... and their learning gets reinforced! • There are also 437 practice questions in the app, once for each concept. [Free Tier] • The first 41 cards (Tier 1) are free, so you can download the app on your iPhone and test-drive these cards for free. • If you like the content - and we think you will - you may pay to access the other 396 cards that comprise Tiers 2 and 3. • We have priced the paid app to match the cost of 1 coffee a month! [Parents] • Parents! You too may download and test-run the free version (41 cards) of this app. Quiz your students on the concepts and gauge how many they know. And how quickly your kids can recall them. • Incidentally, quizzing your student on the concepts is THE #1 way to improve the math score on test day. Calculators help only partially, and guess-and-check will slow down your students on the test and cause them to guess frantically on the last few questions. [Features and Functionality] • 150+ clear, bold figures • The cards come sorted in 6 buckets: PreAlgebra, Elementary Algebra, Intermediate Algebra, Coordinate Geometry, Plain Geometry, and Trigonometry. • The user can tell the app which cards are familiar and which cards are hard and in need of additional review. The app remembers the user's choices and returns the hard cards to the stack for the next review. • A big dial on the home page shows student progress in each tier. • The user can shuffle the cards in each bucket for subsequent review. This is a powerful feature as it mimics the ACT: questions do NOT follow a preset order on test day. • A reset button sends all the cards - familiar and hard - back into the stack for the user's full review. Don't forget to view the Help page of the app for more instructions!
