Newsmast is a social app for activists. People who love to share what they know and learn from others who know their stuff. We’ve built Newsmast around topics that matter across the Open Social Web. We’re diverse, democratic and dedicated to building safe, committed communities that change the world. You can make an account or sign in with an existing Mastodon account to access Newsmast and enter our map of Social Web communities. If you use Newsmast with your existing Mastodon account, you’ll see seamlessly integrated content from your home server alongside Newsmast’s hand-curated, knowledge-sharing Channels, or from Channels built by the community! We don’t do scraping or content aggregation - all the Channel content comes from Newsmast users or via federation, and is moderated by applying various blocklist, filters that keep out NSFW, crypto and hate-speech. As well as the muscle of our human team so if you see something that doesn’t look like it should be there, just let us know. You can interact seamlessly across the Open Social Web: like, repost, reply, follow, bookmark, add to lists. Most importantly, post what you know into Channels, with the appropriate hashtags added automatically, or directly to your followers. Our app is run by our team at the Newsmast Foundation, a charitable foundation. Our mission is to change social media for good. Championing the work of journalists, academics, charities and NGOs - together with diverse voices, marginalised communities and people on the ground.
