Diffuse is inspired by classic hardware delay and reverb effects from the 1970’s and 1980’s. It takes a Surreal Machines look at the frontier between delays and reverbs. It's an analog/digital hybrid - an analog modeled delay fused with a classic reverb design used in early digital units. In Diffuse you get more than the best of both worlds - you can morph between delays and reverbs, and find all kinds of fantastical sounds in between the two. You’ll also find plenty of nonlinearities and smooth tape-style delay changes. Ringotron allows taming the strong transformational effects of traditional ring modulation, opening up a wider range of possibilities in sound design and audio FX. Its multi-band design enables fine control over which parts of the spectrum will be transformed by the effect. A special soft mode is available that borrows concepts from feedback modeling, which can be used to reduce intermodulation effects that are often a limiting factor in the more general applicability of ring modulators. In addition to the layers of control they provide, combination of these core features also allows the plugin to act as a stereo, multi-peak resonant filter that can also smoothly morph into a ring modulator. Make sure to always leave enough headroom or use an external brickwall limiter for total protection against powerful transients. Alternatively, a built-in soft clipper is also available.
