My mission is to deliver a workout training log app that will help you make progress, build strength, and ensure hypertrophy, all that for free. I will never change the free feature to a paid one, spam the paywall, limit routines or workout logs, etc. (all the bad stuff other workout trackers do). What stands Strive apart: - Create unlimited workout routines, most trackers paywall this - Crate workout plans, assign workouts to days or in an order - Share your workouts with your friends or followers - train together without paying - Set weight or reps for the next workount and ensure progressive overload, go get those gains - RIR/RPE tracking with effective reps metric - Sync cardio and bodyweight with Health so you don't have to input the data manually - Mark workouts as deloads to better understand and analyze the data - Advanced charts without paywall, analyze routine, bodypart or exercise progress - Fully offline - I know some gyms have poor reception - Rest timer personalizeable per exercise - Personalizable dashboard - Choose from many widgets in various sizes to compose your dashboard, just like your phone's homescreen. Have all the data visible at a glance! - Placeholder exercise, select exercise category and bodypart or a group of exercises and then select the actual exercise when working out, based on the feelings or what's free at the gym - Custom keyboard to input workout data frictionlessly, allows to copy value from previous set, set value to all sets, and increment and decrement value - Wrapped, see your year in review at the end of the year - Themes & theme creator - Privacy first - no data tracking - No ads Rest of the features that you would expect: - Measurements and weight ins - Notes - Backup - never loos your data - Prs - Use all the set types, warmup, dropset, myo reps etc - Workout finish reminder - never again open an app to see that you have not saved the previous training - Dark mode - Exercise database I hope my app will help you achieve your goals, in general, just progress and get better. I promise to develop this app until it is your favorite gym log and workout tracker app. Remember, we all are gonna make it! This workout tracker app is not like all the other apps. You can easily write or copy and paste a workout and that's it. Without the tedious process that other apps have to add or create workouts. For weightlifters, Crossfitters, or any gym goer. Keeping track of your workouts is the key to progress. What makes this app different is how easy it is to write or create a workout. Most apps complicate this process by adding many steps. For example: select from a list of exercises; if your exercise is not on the list you need to create it. Then you need to add each set and repetitions and most don't include percentages. If you find a workout you like online you can easily copy and paste it—no need to go too many steps to add your workouts. If you don't know what workout to do you can ask it to create a workout. If you are a weightlifter following periodized programs then this is the only app out there that easily tracks and calculates percentages. Example workout: Backsquat 3 set of 5 reps at 80% increasing 5% each set of my max of 200 pounds. Example CrossFit workout: AMRAP 15: 10 burpees, 10 sit-ups, 10 air squats. Example prompt: Generate a workout for the upper body. Terms of Use (EULA): https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/

Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: Gym log at 4.9 against Barbell App's 4.3. Gym log also leads on update cadence (every 6 days vs every 6 weeks) and monetization model (free vs freemium). On price, review sentiment, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.
Scored on Price · Rating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings · Update frequency · Ads · In-app purchases · Monetization · Best chart rank · Devices · Requires iOS
Both are free to download. Gym log sells 7 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per month and Barbell App sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $3.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
Gym log holds the better App Store score, 4.9 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Gym log has 888 ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 99% of Gym log's written reviews are positive against 100% of Barbell App's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Gym log ships an update every 6 days, Barbell App every 6 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 30, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
