My mission is to deliver a workout training log app that will help you make progress, build strength, and ensure hypertrophy, all that for free. I will never change the free feature to a paid one, spam the paywall, limit routines or workout logs, etc. (all the bad stuff other workout trackers do). What stands Strive apart: - Create unlimited workout routines, most trackers paywall this - Crate workout plans, assign workouts to days or in an order - Share your workouts with your friends or followers - train together without paying - Set weight or reps for the next workount and ensure progressive overload, go get those gains - RIR/RPE tracking with effective reps metric - Sync cardio and bodyweight with Health so you don't have to input the data manually - Mark workouts as deloads to better understand and analyze the data - Advanced charts without paywall, analyze routine, bodypart or exercise progress - Fully offline - I know some gyms have poor reception - Rest timer personalizeable per exercise - Personalizable dashboard - Choose from many widgets in various sizes to compose your dashboard, just like your phone's homescreen. Have all the data visible at a glance! - Placeholder exercise, select exercise category and bodypart or a group of exercises and then select the actual exercise when working out, based on the feelings or what's free at the gym - Custom keyboard to input workout data frictionlessly, allows to copy value from previous set, set value to all sets, and increment and decrement value - Wrapped, see your year in review at the end of the year - Themes & theme creator - Privacy first - no data tracking - No ads Rest of the features that you would expect: - Measurements and weight ins - Notes - Backup - never loos your data - Prs - Use all the set types, warmup, dropset, myo reps etc - Workout finish reminder - never again open an app to see that you have not saved the previous training - Dark mode - Exercise database I hope my app will help you achieve your goals, in general, just progress and get better. I promise to develop this app until it is your favorite gym log and workout tracker app. Remember, we all are gonna make it! Your gym bro, Artur. _________________________________________ Terms of Use: https://strive-workout.com/terms-conditions/ Privacy Policy: https://strive-workout.com/privacy-policy/

LiftBetter is a science-based workout planner that creates a personalised gym workout program based on your goals, training experience, schedule and preferences. Instead of giving everyone the same workout routine, LiftBetter builds a training plan that is designed specifically for you. Whether your goal is building muscle, getting stronger, improving your physique or staying consistent in the gym, LiftBetter helps you know exactly what to do every workout. A workout plan that is actually personalised Many fitness apps claim to create personalised workout plans, but most still rely on generic templates with only a few small adjustments. LiftBetter takes a much more detailed approach. The app starts by looking at your availability and generates multiple workout split options that fit your schedule. You can choose the split that best suits your lifestyle, making it much easier to stay consistent over the long term. You can then customise your training goals in as much detail as you want. You can: * Choose how much you want to train 21 different muscle groups. * Select from 7 different training emphasis levels for every muscle group. * Rank your muscle groups by priority. * Set your training experience and overall fitness goals. Science-based workout programming Every workout is built using evidence-based training principles. The app considers factors such as: * Weekly training volume * Training frequency * Recovery between workouts * Exercise selection * Progressive overload * Muscle group priorities * Your available training days Instead of randomly assigning exercises, LiftBetter creates a structured workout program designed to help you make consistent progress. Know exactly what to do in the gym Every workout tells you exactly what to do. You'll always know: * Which exercises to perform * How many sets to complete * Your target rep range * Your target RIR (Reps In Reserve) * How long to rest between sets Every exercise also includes a video tutorial so you can learn proper technique and perform each movement with confidence. Track every workout This is more than a workout planner. It also functions as a complete workout tracker. Log your: * Weight * Repetitions * Sets * RIR * Workout history The app automatically stores your previous performance so you always know what you achieved last time, making progressive overload simple to follow. Visualise your progress Track your improvement over time with detailed training statistics. See your: * Exercise progress * Personal records * Training volume * Workout streaks * Strength improvements Clear progress visualisations help you stay motivated and make better training decisions. Built to help you stay consistent Consistency is one of the biggest predictors of long-term results. LiftBetter removes uncertainty from your training by giving you a clear plan every time you enter the gym. Built-in rest timers, progress tracking, personalised workout schedules and clear exercise guidance help you spend less time wondering what to do and more time training. Perfect for * Muscle building (hypertrophy) * Strength training * Beginners looking for structure * Intermediate and advanced lifters * Anyone wanting a personalised workout plan * Gym users who want to train smarter Why us? Unlike traditional workout apps that provide generic routines, LiftBetter creates a workout program around your individual goals, schedule and priorities. Whether you train two days or six days per week, want to prioritise your chest, shoulders or legs, or simply want a structured gym workout that helps you make consistent progress, your program will be adapted. *LiftBetter offers a 3-day Free Trial, after which a subscription is necessary to use all features. ‘Powered by fatsecret nutrition API’ (www.fatsecret.com) Terms of Use: https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/ Privacy Policy: https://sites.google.com/view/lines-privacy-policy/homepage

Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is monetization model: Gym log at free against LiftBetter's freemium. Gym log also leads on ratings volume (868 vs 11) and rating (4.9 vs 4.6). LiftBetter's advantage is device support (3 vs 1). On price, review sentiment, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

CostPrice · In-app purchases · Ads · Monetization

Both are free to download. Gym log sells 7 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per month and LiftBetter sells 9 in-app purchases, starting at $14.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

ReceptionRating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings

Gym log holds the better App Store score, 4.9 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Gym log has 868 ratings behind it against 11, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 99% of Gym log's written reviews are positive against 100% of LiftBetter's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

Gym log ships an update every 4 days, LiftBetter every 3 days. The most recent releases landed on October 16, 2026 and October 14, 2026 respectively.
