This app can help you get to know the ADLaM alphabet. Scroll through the letters and study their shapes and sounds. Practice tracing each one until you're familiar-- then quiz yourself on the letters! Note it is written right-to-left. That is why the first letter is listed on the top right and they go right to left, up to down. The name Adlam is an acronym derived from the first four letters of the alphabet (A, D, L, M), standing for Alkule Dandayɗe Leñol Mulugol, which means "the alphabet that protects the peoples from vanishing". It is one of many indigenous scripts developed for specific languages in West Africa (especially Fulani AKA Peul, Fulah, Fula, Fufulde, Pulaar...). It was invented in the 1980s by brothers Ibrahima and Abdoulaye Barry.

Finally speak your family's language. Kabyle, Algerian or Moroccan Darija, Riffian, Chaoui, Tachelhit, Tunisian, Wolof, Creole... Dialect helps you learn the language of your parents and grandparents, one word at a time, a few minutes a day. Do you know how to say "I love you" to your grandmother in her language? If you grew up far from your family's country, you know the feeling: everyone talks around the table, you smile along... but you can't really answer. Dialect is built to close that gap. 22 LANGUAGES SCHOOLS DON'T TEACH • Berber (Amazigh, Tamazight) languages: Kabyle, Chaoui, Riffian (Tarifit) and Tachelhit (Shilha) • Algerian Darija, Moroccan Darija (Moroccan Arabic) and Tunisian Arabic • Wolof, Fula (Pulaar), Bambara, Lingala and Malagasy • Guadeloupean, Martinican, Réunion and Haitian Creole • Kurdish, Turkish, Tamil and Vietnamese • Breton and Ancient Egyptian Whether you want to learn Kabyle to talk with your grandmother, learn Moroccan Arabic before the summer, or learn the Wolof or Creole your parents speak, you start with everyday words: greetings, thanks, family, home, food. REAL NATIVE VOICES* For ten languages*, every word is recorded by someone who grew up speaking it, so you hear the language the way it sounds at home. Most other languages have audio too. *Algerian and Moroccan Darija, Kabyle, Chaoui, Riffian, Tachelhit, Tunisian, Wolof, Kurdish and Guadeloupean Creole. A GUIDED PATH WITH TIPO Short lessons in the right order, with TIPO, Dialect's mascot, by your side. You earn XP, unlock units one by one, and cultural windows tell you the story of the language and the people who speak it. CARDS, QUIZZES AND A DICTIONARY • Flip cards to discover and review words, with audio • Quizzes to check what you remember • A dictionary to find the words you have learned • Reviews come back at the right time (spaced repetition), so you remember more and forget less SEE YOUR PROGRESS Your streak, the words you have learned and your calendar, all in the Progress tab.
