“SAMUDRA” (Smart Access to Marine Users for Data Resources, and ocean Advisories) is envisaged to give an easy access for users to the ocean information and advisory services provided by The Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS) (under the Ministry of Earth Sciences, Government Of India). The app empowers users with real-time updates and critical alerts on oceanic disasters such as tsunamis, high waves, swell surge alerts, and ocean current alerts etc. ensuring that individuals and communities stay informed to take necessary precautions. The app also offers invaluable services to the fishing community, providing PFZ advisories that guide fishermen to the most probable fish aggregation locations thereby maximising catch rates, and improving livelihoods. Furthermore, the mobile app provides a five-day advanced OSF, predicted tides along the coast etc. enabling mariners, fishermen, and coastal communities to plan their activities in advance, mitigating risks and optimising operations based on predicted ocean conditions. The app has interactive maps, charts, and animations that enhance comprehension of complex oceanic phenomena. The application is now available in English, Hindi and Indian coastal languages (Gujarati, Marathi, Kannada, Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Odia, and Bengali).

With more than 60 Automatic Weather Stations(AWS) placed at strategic locations across Mumbai and connected through Software Defined- Wide Area Network (SD-WAN), Mumbai citizens can get details of rainfall, temperature, humidity, wind speed and wind direction at their location with precise accuracy.The application has been conceived by Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) for citizens information and freely available. Application important features are:- -- Real-time rainfall data of each weather station refreshed every 15 minutes. -- Rainfall data available for last 15 minutes, 1 hour, and 3 hours. -- Temperature, Wind Speed, Humidity and Pressure data of every 15 minutes. -- Geo-location mapped with closest weather station -- Daily high tide and low tide data. -- Vehicular traffic diversions, railway delays if any and BEST,Railways,Airways,Monorail and Metro running Status Updates. -- Alerts/Warnings (including Nowcasting) through IMD. -- SOS facility in case of emergency to contact your near ones. -- Getting address and details of the nearest Police station, Ward office, Fire Station, Hospital, Railway Station, Metro Station, Monorail Station, Flooding Spots, Temporary Shelter and Landslide Prone Areas. -- 25 Short films on how to manage emergency disaster situation, Mockdrill etc. -- Push notifications for alerts to the citizens.
