Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: Hyper Space at 4.6 against Background Check App's 3.6. Hyper Space also leads on update cadence (every 4 weeks vs every 4 months) and ratings volume (366 vs 48). Background Check App's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 10) and iOS requirement (11.0 vs 13.0). On price, review sentiment, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Hyper Space sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days. Background Check App asks for nothing beyond the download.
Hyper Space holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 3.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Hyper Space has 366 ratings behind it against 48, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 87% of Background Check App's written reviews are positive against 83% of Hyper Space's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Background Check App ships an update every 4 months, Hyper Space every 4 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 22, 2026 and October 20, 2026 respectively.
