Verdict

The call

新山海經：異變 and 三國志Thrones both sit at 4.6 stars, but that hides the real split: 100% of 新山海經：異變's written reviews are positive against 33% of 三國志Thrones's. 新山海經：異變 also leads on update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 2 months). 三國志Thrones's advantage is ratings volume (372 vs 9). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Scored on Price · Rating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings · Update frequency · Ads · In-app purchases · Monetization · Best chart rank · Devices · Requires iOS

CostPrice · In-app purchases · Ads · Monetization

Both are free to download. 新山海經：異變 sells 10 one-off in-app purchases and 三國志Thrones sells 10 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

ReceptionRating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings

三國志Thrones holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: 三國志Thrones has 372 ratings behind it against 9, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 100% of 新山海經：異變's written reviews are positive against 33% of 三國志Thrones's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

新山海經：異變 ships an update every 2 weeks, 三國志Thrones every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on November 3, 2026 and November 4, 2026 respectively.
