Ostheimer Lecture
Read full descriptionHide full description
The Ostheimer Lecture is the most prestigious annual lecture in obstetric anesthesia, delivered at the Society for Obstetric Anesthesia and Perinatology (SOAP) Annual Meeting. Endowed in honor of Gerard W. Ostheimer, MD, it distills the prior year's peer-reviewed literature into a single hour-long synthesis. This is a native iPhone study companion to the Stanford Anesthesia Informatics & Media (AIM) Lab's curation of the Ostheimer Lecture series. NATIVE STUDY TOOLS • Per-article notes — annotate any article, stored privately on your iPhone. • Read tracking — checkmarks on articles you've opened, with year-level progress bars. • Bookmarks — save articles for later via a Saved filter. • Unread filter — narrow the list to what's still ahead. • Calendar — add upcoming SOAP Annual Meetings (2026 Montreal, 2027 Palm Springs) to your iPhone Calendar. • Haptic feedback on flip-cards, bookmarks, and filters. LECTURES A profile for each year's lecturer with biography and credentials, plus the full lecture video embedded inline. ARTICLES The lecturer's complete curated reading list, organized by year and topic, with citations and take-aways. Native search and filter chips for Saved, Unread, and topic. FOLLOW ALONG A focused study mode that walks you through one card at a time. Tap to flip a card in 3D and reveal the lecturer's take-away — the single-sentence summary they wrote for that paper. SYLLABUS The lecturer's complete written syllabus, rendered offline using Apple's native PDF engine. The 2023, 2024, and 2025 syllabi are bundled for fully offline reading. YEARS • 2026 — David T. Monks, MBChB (Washington University): Postpartum Hemorrhage: From Prediction to Action • 2025 — Emily E. Sharpe, MD (Mayo Clinic) • 2024 — Melissa E. Bauer, DO (Duke) • 2023 — Pervez Sultan, MD (Stanford) ABOUT THE AIM LAB The Stanford AIM Lab builds tools and curricula that make anesthesia education more accessible, evidence-based, and clinically useful. CREDITS Curated content provided by SOAP and the annual Ostheimer lecturers.
