Nau mai, haere mai, tāuti mai We have developed Manapou as a rich resource to help grow our collective knowledge and confidence to work effectively with Māori as well as the wider Manapou ki te Ao community. Manapou is a key ‘pou’ (pillar) that will help you understand our Rautaki Māori (Māori Strategy). It will help set our work in a bicultural context, help you understand why and how we partner with iwi/hapū and Māori organisations to develop indigenous international education and ultimately fulfil our responsibilities under Te Tiriti o Waitangi. Whatungarongaro te tangata toitū te whenua - People come and go but the land remains. This whakatauki inspires us to appreciate the importance of whenua, and our responsibility to understand, develop and care for whenua, moana and arawai. Nau mai, haere mai. Te Puna Hāpai is an educational resource for Toitū Te Whenua Land Information NZ staff to learn about basic Tikanga and te reo Māori to support their day-to-day mahi (work) and their engagement with Māori. Interactive features within the app include pronunciation of Māori words, maps with Māori place names and iwi groups, mihimihi/pepeha (introductions), ngā mihi (greetings), poroporoaki (farewells), whakataukī (proverbs), waiata (songs) and links to key LINZ documents that support effective engagement with Māori. One of the app’s key features is that staff can self-populate their own personal pepeha information.
