Verdict
The clearest difference is review sentiment: Compot at 100% against Pulse's 33%. Compot also leads on monetization model (freemium vs subscription) and ratings volume (7 vs 2). Pulse's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 4.4). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.
Scored on Price · Rating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings · Update frequency · Ads · In-app purchases · Monetization · Best chart rank · Devices · Requires iOS
Both are free to download. Compot sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per 7 days and Pulse sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
Pulse holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.4. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 7 and 2 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 100% of Compot's written reviews are positive against 33% of Pulse's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Compot ships an update every 2 weeks, Pulse every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 27, 2026 and October 25, 2026 respectively.
