Tonmi

Perfect pitch is the ability to hear a note and name it instantly. Only about 1 in 10,000 adults has it, but young children can learn it. Tonmi turns the practice into a short daily game your child will ask for. HOW IT WORKS Tonmi plays a piano chord. Your child listens and taps the flag that matches the sound. Right answers bring balloons to pop, and each session ends with confetti and a sticker to pick. No note names and no reading, just listening. THE METHOD Tonmi follows the first stage of the Eguchi method, taught in Japan for over 30 years: nine piano chords, each with its own color, added one at a time as the earlier ones settle in. In a published study of the method (Sakakibara, 2014), every child who completed the training gained perfect pitch. The children started between the ages of 2 and 6. The skill is easiest to pick up in early childhood and gets harder with age, but older children are welcome too. WHAT TO EXPECT Tonmi covers stage one: the nine white-key chords. The black-key chords and single-note stages are not included yet. The study followed a longer, teacher-led program, and Tonmi itself has not been independently tested. Results depend on regular practice and on the child, and no app can guarantee perfect pitch. MADE FOR LITTLE EARS AND LITTLE HANDS • No reading needed: play together at first and help when your child needs it • Big flags, real piano recordings and an instant response to every tap • Right answers bring balloons your child can pop straight away • Each session ends with confetti and a sticker to pick • A sticker book with 84 hand-drawn stickers to fill, page by page • A calm pace: short sessions with a little pause between sounds PARENTS SET THE PACE • A parent corner, locked behind a grown-up question • You decide how many sessions your child plays in a row, then Tonmi takes a nap • An ear map for every color, a practice calendar, answer speed and the chords that get mixed up most • Choose whether new colors arrive carefully or faster • A short weekly report on Sunday evening, if you allow notifications • Progress syncs between your devices with iCloud PRIVACY No ads. No tracking. No accounts. The listening game works offline once it's installed; purchases and iCloud sync need an internet connection. TONMI PLUS To play, you need an active Tonmi Plus trial, subscription or lifetime purchase. Eligible monthly and yearly subscriptions include a 7-day free trial, which starts once Apple confirms the subscription. The lifetime plan is a one-time purchase with no free trial, and there is no separate free plan. Family Sharing is supported. Devices on the same iCloud account share one progress record; there are no separate child profiles. You'll see local prices and trial eligibility in the app. To avoid being charged, cancel at least 24 hours before your trial ends. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the current period ends; you can manage them in your App Store settings.
