Learn to Convert Units

Learn to convert units safely and confidently in no time! This app will "burn in" the unit cancellation method, the most powerful method available to convert any kind of units into any other. Created for and tested by my students at a technical college, this app provides three lines of attack: 1. You may (if you wish) study the 33 most useful conversion facts I have used over the course of my careers as both an engineer and a technical math instructor. These 33 facts, many of which you know already, will suffice for 99% of practical situations, saving you the hassle of looking things up. You'll just know! 2. Before tackling the visual quizzes, you will of course wish to read up on the basic idea of the method. A series of four short info screens quickly introduces the main idea and quickly levels you up to the most complicated possible types of problems! Just begin with the first two screens, if you want to approach this gradually. 3. The jewel in the crown is the set of three visual quizzes, designed to get you on the right track in minimum time. Instant feedback, combined with "show solution" and "try again" buttons, will help you catch on quickly! The first quiz warms you up with one- or two-step conversions; the second involves rates like mph, and may require a third step; the third quiz involves squared and cubed units and may require up to four steps. By the time you get halfway through any of these quizzes, you will be expert at these maneuvers! The rest will boost your confidence even higher.
