CoverageIQ Team is built for coaches, staff, and players who need one place to run a team, not five different apps stitched together. Messaging that matches how a team is actually organized. Chat as a full team, or in scoped rooms based on your chain of command, so the right messages reach the right people without cluttering everyone's inbox. A shared calendar built for practices, games, and events. Coaches can post approved events for the whole team or a specific section, and players can see what is coming up at a glance. After events, coaching staff can log after action reviews to track what worked and what to adjust next time. Attendance tracking built in. Take attendance directly from an event and keep a record over the course of a season. Custom roles, not a fixed hierarchy. Every team is different, so admins define their own roles and choose exactly what each one can do: manage the calendar, manage the roster, approve or request chat rooms, take attendance, or post announcements. The person who creates the team is always the Owner, a protected status that cannot be edited away, so a team can never accidentally lock itself out of its own settings. Join a team in seconds with an invite code, and stay connected to teammates from past seasons even after you move to a new team. Your account can belong to more than one team over time, each with its own roster, chat, and calendar.

Verdict
The clearest difference is review sentiment: CIQ at 100% against Cali Pass's 67%. CIQ also leads on update cadence (every 5 days vs every 2 months) and rating (5.0 vs 4.8). Cali Pass's advantage is ratings volume (64 vs 5) and iOS requirement (14.0 vs 16.6). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
CIQ holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Cali Pass has 64 ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 67% of Cali Pass's written reviews are positive against 100% of CIQ's.
Cali Pass ships an update every 2 months, CIQ every 5 days. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 17, 2026 respectively.
